Step 2: Whip the Cream

  • Use an electric mixer or whisk to beat the cream until soft peaks form. Be careful not to over-whip, as it can turn grainy.

Step 3: Combine the Chocolate and Cream

  • Start with a small amount of whipped cream to lighten the chocolate mixture.
  • Gradually add the remaining cream, folding in gently to maintain the mousse’s airy texture.

Step 4: (Optional) Add Whipped Egg Whites

  • If using egg whites, beat two egg whites to soft peaks and fold them into the chocolate mixture after combining the cream and chocolate.

Step 5: Chill and Serve

  • Divide the mousse into serving glasses or ramekins. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2-3 hours, or until set.

Step 6: Garnish (Optional)

  • Add a dollop of reserved whipped cream, a sprinkle of cocoa powder, or a few chocolate shavings on top for an elegant touch.
